We are happy to introduce another outstanding speaker at the International Maritime Emergencies Conference: 🎙️ Amador Castro Pereira, Head of Maritime Search, Rescue, and Pollution Control Service – Galician Coastguard (Gardacostas de Galicia) Captain Amador Castro Pereira is a recognized expert in maritime safety, emergency management, and marine pollution response, with more than 15 years of service in the Spanish Maritime Administration and a distinguished career in both civil and military maritime operations. A graduate in Nautical Studies and Maritime Transport (University of A Coruña) with top national honors, and holder of a Master’s in Environmental Engineering (University of Santiago de Compostela), he has combined academic excellence with extensive operational leadership.
His career includes roles as Merchant Marine Captain, Navy Lieutenant (Honorary Reservist), and senior maritime safety inspector, including service as Port State Control Officer under the Paris MOU in Las Palmas and Vigo. Since 2024, he has led the Galician Coastguard’s Search, Rescue, and Anti-Pollution Service, one of Europe’s most effective SAR organizations, coordinating ships, patrol boats, and helicopters in 24/7 emergency operations. He also directs Galicia’s marine pollution contingency plan (Plan CAMGAL), integrated into Spain’s National Response System.
